This site is under construction.
I'm setting this site up so I can share some of my experiences with the rest of the world,
using the world's most successful, reliable, and friendly Operating System - Linux
Currently my main distribution of Linux is
Centos 5 which is
a very stable distribution and is ideal for most development work. I am running it on my home
server, which is a DELL Poweredge SC1420, and a server hosted at
UK2.NET. For me the
Total Cost of
Ownership for a Linux system has simply been the cost of the hardware, plus a few hours of
my own time to configure
Centos. Generally, updates are
much easier to apply than proprietary based operating systems; I do have the advantage of being a
programmer. But usability for the average user is improving by the day, and in many cases users are
starting to find that Linux is actually easier to use than the proprietary alternatives.
